Beth Kurtz

Welcome. I am a private technical coach in classical ballet, and have taught in the New York metropolitan area since 1977.

My students include children (from age 9); teenagers and adults (beginner through intermediate levels); and advanced students who need to strengthen their basic training.

I don’t teach group classes. As a teacher, I aim to give my students what classes don’t: 60 or more minutes of my undivided attention. I hope by this intensive method to help students do better in classes, rehearsals, and performances.
It may help you to know that I was a late bloomer in ballet, beginning in my 20s after several years of modern dance.

Once I knew that ballet was my true love, I went into total-immersion ballet training, continuing for 25 years in New York with the major teachers of the Cecchetti, English, and Russian schools: Anthony Tudor, Margaret Craske, Alfredo Corvino, Vincenzo Celli, Maggie Black, Igor Schwezoff, Leon Danielian, David Howard, Finis Jhung, Gabriella Darvash, Nadine Revene, Julia Barashkova, and Byron Mitchell.

I am an ABT® Certified Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Primary through Level 3 of the American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum.
