Gwinnett Ballet Theatre School

The Gwinnett Ballet Theatre School is one of the few non-profit dance schools in the region. This non-profit status ensures that priority is placed on the individual dancer as opposed to acquiring large numbers of students.

This focus on the individual child results in strong, confident dancers. Beginning at age four and continuing throughout high school and sometimes beyond, students are offered the finest training available. Classes utilize the talents of teachers selected for their ability to obtain results while fulfilling the GBT motto of "Nurturing young dancers." GBT's teaching philosophy involves the whole dancer. Confidence and a spirit of independent creativity are the results of this focus.

While GBT concentrates on classical ballet, dancers are encouraged to learn other forms of dance, and company members are required to do so. Classes in tap, jazz, modern, and hip hop are available at the appropriate age and levels of development. As students graduate into the Junior and then Senior companies, participation in the auditioning and attendance of summer intensives at major national ballet companies is strongly recommended.

GBT's participation in the Southeastern Regional Ballet Association is also a focal point of the serious student's participation and development. GBT prides itself on many successful and well rounded students who have achieved professional careers. The formula for this success is offered to all who participate.

Gwinnett Ballet Theatre was Gwinnett Countys very first nonprofit performing arts organization. GBT was founded by Lynn Snipes in 1977 for the purpose of providing local dancers with the training and performing experience necessary to prepare for a professional dance career.

For more than three decades we have remained committed to our original mission of bringing outstanding ballet instruction and performances to the growing and increasingly diverse population of Gwinnett and neighboring counties. Located in Snellville in Fountain Square Center, GBT maintains a 15,000 square foot facility with four studios, one of which is equipped to resemble the dimensions and wing space of the Gwinnett Performing Arts Center stage.

Gwinnett Ballet Theatre is a totally non-profit, 501C3 organization. Not only is the performing company non-profit, but the school maintains that status as well, one of the only non-profit dance schools in the entire region. We have been consistent in our excellence, and we are proud of all we have achieved.

Our Mission Statement:

Gwinnett Ballet Theatre's mission is two-fold. For our students, GBT offers the best dance education possible, enabling graduates to pursue a professional career, while instilling a knowledge and love for the art form. For our community, we educate and inspire audiences through performances, our scholarship program, outreach programs, and collaborations with other non-profit groups.
