Bolshoi Ballet has been always related to the Bolshoi Theatre, because it developed its artworks in the Bolshoi theatres and the theatre took over the ballet company in 1825. Initially in Russia, the ballet was only opened up to people that could afford the price of the ticket, because it was presented in majestic buildings and luxurious seats with all facilities; however, there was a zone made of simple wooden seats for non- wealthy people, where prices were cheaper.

Nowadays, Russian people can enjoy of several artistic events related to ballet, and the Bolshoi Ballet is the leading ballet company of Russia due to its elaborated productions that include and preserve the classical dance. Their productions are realized under the Moscow Style (as their style was called) and were influenced by Russian folklore, so they became into ambassadors of its culture.

The Bolshoi Ballet company passed by several times, some good and bad, but it certainly maintain its traditions and unique realization; with realism in the scenery and costume; finally, the Bolshoi Ballet created a school, which was known since 1961 as the Moscow Academic Choreographic School and teaches ballet in the style of the company, specially tailored to the requirements of the company, in order to prepare its future dancers; so it results incredibly difficult to enter into the Bolshoi Company for dancers trained elsewhere.

The Bolshoi Ballet as a part of the Bolshoi Theatre has the mission to place the classical heritage into the changing context and the cultural demand of Russian Society, it includes an artistic component, a social component, educating component and culturological component; to achieve its mission counts with a well-prepared staff and dancers: principal, leading soloists, first soloists, soloists and the corps de ballet and auxiliary staff.
