English national ballet

The English national ballet is a classical ballet company recognized worldwide for its performing that present the best of British ballet abroad. The English National Ballet was founded originally by the British dance couple Alicia Markova, a ballerina and choreographer, director and teacher of classical ballet; and Anton Dolin, stage name of the dancer and choreographer Sydney Francis Patrick Healey-Kay.

Initially the company was directed by Serge Diaghilev, but after his dead, it was disappearing; that was when the British dancers decided to create their own company in which the activities won't be dependent on stellar dances, which usually caused the short life of the company, their company would have an independent identity; from its formation the company was called the Festival ballet and London Festival Ballet.

However, in order to reflect the new and powerful role of the ballet company, they give the company the name of English National Ballet in 1989, it was suggested by Evdokimova (the first Princess Aurora in the production of the Sleeping Beauty).

The mission of the company was to present the finest and high quality possible classical ballet to all audiences through the country at affordable prices; the company hires the best qualify dancers and musicians; in its dancers are included the Senior Principal Dancers, Principal Dancers, Soloists (first, juniors) and other artists; we must also consider the Orchestra, responsible of taking us across different moments of any presentation.

The English National Ballet Company is associated with the English National Ballet School, which mission is to be a centre of excellence for young dancer development, find their talent and reach their full potential. It was founded in 1988 and nowadays, it counts with all services and facilities from health services, pastoral care, and additional needs.
