The Pacific Northwest Ballet company, located in Seattle, Washington in the United States, is one of the leading ballet companies in America. Founded in 1972 under the name of Pacific Northwest Dance Association and with the direction of Leon Kalimos (Executive Director) and Janet Reed (School director); initially functioned with the Seattle Opera Association and started with a mixed repertory, until it got independent in 1977 and was renamed with its current name in 1978.

The Company started with only 18 dancers, in 2009, it comprised over 48 dancers and a great staff to support them.

The Artistic and Production staff is formed by the Artistic Director: Peter Boal and three ballet masters, who teach and rehearse the company dancers and the school students; other resident staff includes stage managers, technical crew, costume shop, and others. There is also a Music staff that produces a challenging repertoire of music for all the presentations.

All the people involved in work at the Pacific Northwest Ballet must be engaged with the mission and vision of the company that consists in: Enriching lives in the Pacific Northwest, considered a national treasure and acclaimed worldwide, PNB epitomizes excellence in the performing arts; setting new standards for excellence, attract the most talented dancers and artists, educate artists, and strengthen the organizational and financial foundation.

Not long time after the foundation of the Pacific Northwest Ballet company, a school was organized and nowadays, under the direction of Peter Boal the school offers a complete teaching program to more than 900 students, divided into three divisions:

Children's Division: For children from 2 to 7 years old; it's also divided according ages and abilities. This level focuses in music, movement and interactions.

Student Division: From eight level of instruction, this level focuses in strength and physical development.

Professional Division: For people interested in a professional dance career

The company offers a partial tuition scholarship for people that demonstrate great potential and financial need
