Darcey Bussell

Darcey Bussell

Darcey Bussell is another spectacular story of effort, dedication and passion. She began her studies in ballet too late and in comparison to the other girls, she did not possess the ability, dexterity and vocation to become as a professional ballet dancer. Nevertheless, she demonstrated her hidden talent and reached to be one of the best in the world of ballet.

She was born in London city on April 27th of 1969. Without a doubt she had a hidden talent for dancing running throughout their blood because her mother was a professional dancer of the Royal Ballet School. However, when she was a child she was more interested in sports than in dancing. In 1974, she took her first ballet dance classes, but she attended some classes obligated by her friends. In fact, she spent almost the majority of the time under the piano.

In 1980, she enrolled an Arts Educational School where she learned ballet, modern tap, jazz and singing. After that, she decided to audition at the Royal Ballet School at white Lodge. Fortunately she got a vacancy and began attending some important classes there. Nonetheless, her life inside the ballet school was not nearly as easy as she thought it would be. She had several problems with the classes because she did not understand them quickly; she was a slowly learner.

The majority of her teachers did not see in her a future brilliant ballerina and ignored her many times. In addition, her classmates always made fun of her because of her repeated failures. The idea of giving up was always surrounding her mind. However, she decided to stay and practice as much as she could.

Her patience, tenacity and strength took her to another level in ballet and in 1985 she was accepted in the prestige Royal Ballet Upper School. The next year, she was selected to perform a solo concert and won the Prix de Lausanne prize. The rest is history: she became one of the most important ballet dancers.
