Viengsay Valdés was born in La Havana, Cuba on November 10th, 1976. She did her first steps to become a professional ballet dancer at The National School Arts and the Alejo Carpentier Ballet School. During her learning process at these prestigious ballet schools, she won several awards and distinctions. For example, she was recognized as the main ballet dancer of the National ballet of Cuba.

Viengsay had a magnificent ballet teacher called Ramona de Sáa. In fact, thanks to Ramona, Viengsay acquired many techniques and movements. She received the gold medal during the Vignale Festival of Dance in Italy in the year of 1993. The next year, she finished her career as a professional dancer and professional choreographer with the highest honors. Since then, she could join the company and her career took off.

Viengsay Valdés has traveled to different parts of the world such as Asia, Europe and North America thanks to their magnificent representations of female roles on the stage. She participated in a larger number of artistic works such as Giselle, Cinderella, Blood Wedding, Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet, Don Quixote, The Sleeping Beauty, La Fille Mal Gardee and the Nutcracker, just to mention a few.

In 2003, she was an honorable guest during the celebration of Les Étoiles du XXIe Siècle organized in Paris.

In addition, several contemporary artists include her in many theatrical performances. She has leading participation in the International Ballet Festival organized in the city of la Havana since 2004. In this same year, she received the Prize for popularity from the World Stars Ballet in Budapest. In 2006, she was invited to participate in the World Ballet Festival in Tokyo- Japan.
