The Ballet is an artistic expression where the body is the principal tool to represent several theatrical roles through many coordinated movements on a stage. The Ballet dance is actually for many people the most elegant, fine, beautiful, graceful and precise form of art.

A lot of people only take ballet classes to have fun and relax. However, ballet is more than that; it is a serious activity that needs a lot of work and passion. As in any other discipline, Ballet is quite complicated and requires several years of practice and preparation to perform an artistic play on a stage. There are plenty of positions, jumps and spins that each student has to learn to become a professional.

However, the movements are generated inside the heart with the passion of the dancer who conveys it in a beautiful choreography. In fact, each ballet movement tells a different story. Ballet is a form of art that tells stories through coordinated movements. Unfortunately, only few people can express something like that.

During the 15th century the ballet was quite developed in many European countries such as France and Italy. In addition, these nations made some important contributions to Classical Ballet.

Throughout the following centuries, a large number of teachers and choreographers have standardized techniques and movements to ease the daily training of dancers. That is why nowadays we can see elegant, fine, artistic and well-elaborated movements on the stage.

Here is a list of the most important movements in Ballet as follows:
  • Turns

    The student can find several turns during a performance. This element is pretty essential in ballet because they are used to show the body of the dancers properly from all angles. A large number of expert ballet dancers can execute turns with several rotations and on pointe shoes.

  • Jumps and Leaps

    Jumps and leaps are quite required in ballet because this technique creates the illusion of weightlessness and the basic and simple idea that the performer has defied gravity.

  • Extensions

    The flexibility is very important to make this movement. In order to learn the extensions properly, students have to perform specific training exercises.
